Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information Mickey Digital collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access it, correct it or ask us to delete it. It covers our website, our Facebook and Instagram advertising, and the enquiries we receive by phone, text and email.
1. Who we are
Mickey Digital is a web design and development studio based in Australia. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Mickey Digital (ABN: add your ABN here).
We are the entity responsible for the personal information described in this policy. If you have any question about it, contact us using the details in section 15.
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Where the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) or the Do Not Call Register Act 2006 (Cth) applies to how we contact you, we follow those too.
2. What this policy covers
This policy applies to personal information we collect:
- through this website;
- through lead forms attached to our ads on Facebook and Instagram;
- when you call, text, email or message us on social media;
- in the course of providing our services to clients.
It does not cover the websites we build for our clients. Those sites are operated by our clients under their own privacy policies. It also does not cover Facebook, Instagram or any other third-party platform, which handle your information under their own policies.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you give us
When you enquire about our services — through a lead form on one of our ads, by text, by email, or through a direct message — we collect the details you choose to give us. Typically that is:
- your name;
- your email address;
- your phone number;
- your business or trading name;
- anything else you tell us about your business, your current website, your budget, your timeframe, or what you are looking for.
You do not have to give us this information. But if you do not, we may not be able to answer your enquiry or quote on your project.
3.2 Facebook and Instagram lead forms
We advertise on Facebook and Instagram. Some of our ads include an instant lead form that you can fill out without leaving the app.
When you submit one of those forms:
- Meta Platforms, Inc. collects your responses and passes them to us. Meta may pre-fill parts of the form from information already on your Facebook or Instagram profile — you can edit those fields before you submit.
- Your submission is made available to us through Meta's Ads Manager, and we may download a copy or have it forwarded to our email.
- We use it for one purpose: to get in touch with you about the web design or development work you enquired about.
Meta's own handling of your information is governed by the Meta Privacy Policy, not this one. If you want your information removed from Meta's systems, you will need to contact Meta directly; if you want it removed from ours, contact us and we will delete it.
3.3 Information collected automatically
Our website is hosted on Vercel. Like almost all web hosts, Vercel automatically records basic technical information when a page is requested — your IP address, browser type and version, the page you requested, and the date and time. This is used to serve the site, keep it secure and diagnose faults.
Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts. To deliver the font files, Google receives your IP address and basic browser information. Google's handling of that data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Advertising and measurement tools. Because we run ads on Facebook and Instagram, we may use the Meta Pixel or a similar measurement tool on this website. Where it is active, it uses cookies and similar technology to tell us which ads led to enquiries, and to help Meta show our ads to people likely to be interested. This may involve Meta matching a visit to this site with a Facebook or Instagram account. You can limit this through your Meta ad preferences, your device's tracking settings, or your browser's cookie controls. If you never install the Meta Pixel, delete this paragraph.
3.4 Sensitive information
We do not seek sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act — things like health information, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or criminal record. Please do not send it to us. If you do, we will delete it unless we need it for a reason you have agreed to.
4. Why we collect it and how we use it
We use personal information to:
- respond to your enquiry and answer your questions;
- work out whether we are a good fit for your project, and prepare a quote or proposal;
- contact you by phone, text, email or social media to follow up on an enquiry you made;
- deliver, support and invoice for our services if you become a client;
- measure how well our ads are working, so we spend our advertising budget sensibly;
- improve our website and our services;
- meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent or trade it. We do not use it for any purpose unrelated to the one you gave it to us for, unless you would reasonably expect it or you have agreed to it.
5. Marketing and how to opt out
If you enquire with us, you should expect us to get back to you about that enquiry — that is the whole reason you gave us your details. We may follow up more than once if we do not hear back.
If we send you marketing messages beyond that, every message will include a clear way to unsubscribe, and we will action it promptly. You can also opt out at any time by replying “stop” to a text, using the unsubscribe link in an email, or contacting us directly. Opting out of marketing does not stop us contacting you about work we are actively doing for you.
6. Who we share it with
We share personal information only where it is necessary, and only with:
- Meta Platforms — where you submitted a lead form on Facebook or Instagram, or interacted with our ads.
- Google — we use Gmail, so enquiries that reach us by email are stored on Google's systems. Google Fonts also receives technical data as described in section 3.3.
- Vercel — our website host.
- Service providers we use to run the business — for example accounting, invoicing or scheduling tools, and any contractor helping deliver your project. They may only use the information to perform that service for us.
- Professional advisers — such as our accountant or a lawyer, where we need advice.
- Anyone else you ask us to, or where we are required or authorised by law to disclose it.
If our business is ever sold or restructured, client and enquiry records may transfer to the new owner. We would tell you if that happened.
7. Overseas disclosure
Several of the providers above are based overseas or store data on overseas servers, principally in the United States. That includes Meta, Google and Vercel. By enquiring with us, you acknowledge that your information may be stored or processed outside Australia, and that overseas recipients may not be subject to the Privacy Act. We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers who offer appropriate protections.
8. How we store and protect it
We hold personal information in our email account, in Meta's Ads Manager, and in the business tools described above. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access or disclosure — including strong passwords, multi-factor authentication where it is offered, keeping devices and software up to date, and limiting access to those who need it.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but if a data breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
9. How long we keep it
We keep enquiry records for as long as we may reasonably need them to follow up, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to us. If you become a client, we keep records for as long as we provide services to you and for at least seven years afterwards, to meet tax and record-keeping obligations.
When we no longer need personal information, we destroy it or de-identify it. You can ask us to delete your information sooner — see section 11.
10. Cookies
Our own website does not set cookies to track you. Third-party tools described in this policy may do so — in particular any advertising measurement tool described in section 3.3.
You can control or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies will not stop you using this website.
11. Accessing, correcting and deleting your information
You have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you;
- ask for a copy of it;
- ask us to correct it if it is wrong, out of date or incomplete;
- ask us to delete it;
- ask us to stop contacting you.
Contact us using the details in section 15. We will ask you to verify your identity, and we will respond within a reasonable time — usually within 30 days. We do not charge for this. If we refuse a request, we will tell you why in writing and explain how to complain.
12. Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please tell us first using the details in section 15. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner:
- Website: oaic.gov.au
- Phone: 1300 363 992
- Post: GPO Box 5288, Sydney NSW 2001
13. Children
Our services are aimed at businesses, and our website is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our business changes or as the law requires. The current version is always at this address, and the date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change affecting how we use information we already hold, we will take reasonable steps to tell you.
